RUN for HUNGER 2008
SIS Students Run for Hunger

“The annual Run For Hunger combines a healthy and fun event with a good cause so that everyone benefits,” said Mary Ann Tupper, HRH Director. This year the students raised $14,000 to support the Lunch Box Kids program providing a nutritious lunch for needy students during the summer when school is not in session.

Participants get friends and family to sponsor them and compete in several different categories.

The Run For Hunger is organized by the administrative staff of SIS and Human Resources would like to thank SIS Principal Tim Frazier, teacher Pat Lissenden and and administrator Roseann Gentile for all their hard work. After the run, students have a carnival with food provided by HRH and games including a dunking booth, outdoor bowling, free head shaving, and a water balloon toss.

This annual event raises funds for the Lunch Box Kids Program of Human Resources of the Hamptons. For children who receive federally-subsidized lunch in school, Lunch Box Kids provides a nutritious lunch every day that school is not in session during the summer months.

Organized by the administrative staff of SIS, the Run for Hunger has several categories of competition, with prizes for the winners. Students get friends and family to sponsor their participation with donations to HRH.

The Lunch Box Kids Program receives additional support from many local residents, organizations, and businesses. Southampton Masonry provided the T-shirts.
