2007 - The food drive was organized by the SIS Student Council. A group of student leaders delivered the canned goods to the HRH pantry just time for Thanksgiving. HRH Director Mary Ann Tupper gave the students a tour of the facility and talked with them about other opportunities for helping those in need. "The world is changing, and one generation can't do everything. It's our turn now," said eighth-grader Juliette Behringer. "This whole experience has propelled my desire to help others." |

Southampton Sends Help to New Orleans HRH served
as the staging area for receiving and packaging donated supplies to
send to Hurricane Katrina victims in the Gulf States. Volunteers worked
for more than a week sorting and packing donated clothes, pampers, food
and school supplies. Three different trucks were loaded and sent from
Southampton to carefully pre-arranged sites in the New Orleans
area where recipients were waiting to meet the trucks and make sure
the supplies were properly distributed.

 Director Mary Ann Tupper received an award on behalf of HRH from NY State Senator Ken LaValle, who sponsored a Volunteerism Recognition event in April, selecting several charities and organizations from Suffolk County to be honored for their service to their local communities. |
